American Forces Archilles' Heel: PTSD

This killing started with the
'burning of the Koran' in Afghanistan
by the American soldiers when they
discovered this Holy book
defaced by the
Muslim prisoners
who wrote in the
margins. Defacing, in itself is
an Islamic sin.
The Americans were
afraid the prisoners were organizing and
hiding messages in the margin of these
books; so they
had them burned.
After years of fighting and living in a Muslim
country, you would think that our military
would know that burning 'anything'
that was considered 'holy' by the Muslims
would be a death
sentence.
We already know that the
Muslim extremists don't follow their
own laws; therefore, never mind the
defacing of holy scripture by Muslims;
kill the infidels who burned the defaced
books and let the American President
apologize, to emphasize just how
wrong we were.
This 'burning' of the Koran led
to the killing of American soldiers and diplomats
for revenge.
Who didn't see
this coming? Probably the person who
apologized.
Who didn't feel the tension between the
Afghanistan people
and the
Americans?
Not, the
American commander who warned his troops, after
the killing of Americans, to be "calm" amidst
the rioting against them by the Muslims.
What was the possibility of one
soldier having Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
(PTSD)?
It only took
one, in the dead of night, who
strayed off base looking for a kill.
It has not been determined, if he had PTSD because
he walked back to the base and surrendered.
"What insane person would surrender?" I heard the news media
say. The prosecution will argue that he was sane enough
to surrender to his American unit; rather than, to extreme Muslims; therefore, sane enough when he killed.  He should be
executed.
The question should be? What sane person
would randomly kill innocent children,
women and men and then set them on fire?
This soldier had a previous record of head injuries acquired
while on duty in Iraq with
symptoms of PTSD, but it was ignored and he
was sent back to his third tour of duty.
How can the
United States government
continue to ignore soldiers with
PTSD signs when the final
outcome, when not treated, could
be death or International chaos.
The burning of the Koran exhibits
some levels of duress on our soldiers.
Who in their right mind would burn an Islamic
Holy book on Muslim soil among Muslims?

Medical science is not exact.
It is still full of
uncertainties and irregularities that
vary from patient to patient.

What is an 'exact' science:
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; if not treated
completely and thoroughly, will create havoc by
putting a gun in the hands of a soldier and deploying
him repeatedly into a hostile environment.
I think it's called "Duh" science.

"....The term "berserk" is an Old Norse
word describing the frenzied trance
in which some warriors fought.
The link between combat stress and outbursts
of violence was well documented even before
troops began routinely serving three, four or
more combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan
over the past decade. But PTSD and violence
among veterans has become more prevalent.
 A study conducted at the
Puget Sound Veterans Affairs hospital in Washington, for
instance, demonstrated high
levels of anger and hostility
among returning combat
veterans screening positive
for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The soldier in the Afghanistan
shooting had been diagnosed
with traumatic brain injury in
2010 after a vehicle rollover in Iraq,
 CNN reported Monday night,
citing an unnamed U.S. official.
 A temporary finding of traumatic
brain injury is required by the U.S.
military after troops suffer any
 possible concussion from a blast
or other cause and does not
necessarily indicate significant
 brain injury, mental health
specialists said. CNN reported
that the soldier was later cleared
 for return to duty.
According to a recent
U.S. Army study, about
 472,000 troops who served
 in Iraq or Afghanistan may
have some form of PTSD.
